Sprout Out Loud\u2019s DIY publication, due out in 2013, celebrates the unique mix of organizations, sub-cultures, communities, engaged citizens, creative individuals and businesses that make up urban and rural ecologies \u2014 and the landscapes they inhabit \u2014 the world over.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This \u2018zine and manifesto is a dedication to all those working to re-shape the future of our urban and rural ecologies. It offers reflections and solutions on creative actions which aim to:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: -webkit-auto;\">\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">inspire people to dig in to the communities in which they find themselves;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">re-enchant citizens with the landscapes that surround them;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">engage with these spaces creatively;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">provoke dialogue about how these spaces are developed;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">empower others to plant similar ideas in their own environments where needed;<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; list-style-type: disc; vertical-align: baseline;\">archive and\/or propose community and guerilla gardening initiatives.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nSince 2007, Sprout Out Loud! has worked as a gardener\u2019s ensemble seeking to support and develop the relationship between municipal residents and the land around them. The group\u2019s projects seek to stimulate citizen engagement and provoke dialogue about the importance of the commons through workshops, community events, art installations and presentations. Some principal actions include: <i>The Roerich Garden Project <\/i>in Mile End, Montreal; an e-book archiving the unfolding story of this abandoned lot, <a href=\"http:\/\/roerichproject.artefati.ca\/\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;\" target=\"_blank\">roerichproject.artefati.ca<\/a>; co-founding <i style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;\">Les Amis du Champ des Possibles, <\/i><a href=\"http:\/\/amisduchamp.com\/\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;\" target=\"_blank\">amisduchamp.com<\/a>; presenting a paper at the University of Toronto&rsquo;s <i>DIY Citizenship <\/i>conference, re-working it into an essay to be included in a forthcoming publication by MIT Press; designing and presenting &lsquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/emilyrosemichaud.com\/2012\/07\/sprout-out-loud-august-16-le-16-aout-le.html\" style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 15px; white-space: pre-wrap;\" target=\"_blank\">Occupy the City with Guerilla Gardens and Land Art<\/a>&lsquo; at a conference organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ecoleagricultureurbaine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">UQAM&rsquo;s Summer School of Urban Agriculture<\/a>, among many other community and academic outreach initiatives. Sprout Out Loud! is currently pollinating in Western Qu\u00e9bec through <a href=\"http:\/\/emilyrosemichaud.com\/2012\/09\/programmation-art-nature-programming_29.html\" target=\"_blank\">Art\/Nature programming for children<\/a>.
