Pasture-Fed<\/b>
\nI’ve been asked to create a new work inspired by a short documentary film on a retired farmer in the Outaouais region. It will be part of a travelling show that will pass through all the MRCs in the Outaouais and in the city of Gatineau from October-March. I chose a cattle farmer from Blue Sea Lake, Mr. Cl\u00e9ment Tremblay. The sprouted cow-hide is made of burlap and wheat, one of the principal ingredients in cattle feed, next to oats and corn. Over thirteen days, the wheat transforms from germinated to sprouted grain, then dries to a sweet smelling grass. This installation at Caf\u00e9 Radisson will be the first stop of many places that have a tie to the Outaouais region and its\u2019 farmers. It is made to recall our inevitable reliance upon the lands we inhabit as well as the farmers working so hard to fulfill our basic needs.<\/p>\n

\nLa table agroalimentaire de l\u2019Outaouais m\u2019a demand\u00e9 de r\u00e9aliser une \u0153uvre en m\u2019inspirant du t\u00e9moignage d\u2019un producteur agricole de la r\u00e9gion, aujourd\u2019hui retrait\u00e9. Cette \u0153uvre fera partie d\u2019une exposition itin\u00e9rante, pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e dans toutes les MRC de l\u2019Outaouais et dans la ville de Gatineau, d\u2019octobre \u00e0 mars 2014. J\u2019ai choisi le t\u00e9moignage de l\u2019\u00e9leveur de bovins Cl\u00e9ment Tremblay de la r\u00e9gion du lac Blue Sea. Ma tapisserie germ\u00e9e aux allures de peau de vache est compos\u00e9e de jute et de bl\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s le ma\u00efs et l\u2019avoine, le bl\u00e9 constitue l\u2019un des principaux ingr\u00e9dients utilis\u00e9s pour nourrir les bovins. Pendant 13 jours, le bl\u00e9 se transformera, passant de graine germ\u00e9e \u00e0 pousse, puis de pousse \u00e0 une herbe s\u00e9ch\u00e9e et parfum\u00e9e. Cette installation amorcera sa tourn\u00e9e au Caf\u00e9 Radisson et poursuivra sa route pour \u00eatre expos\u00e9e dans plusieurs sites ayant un lien \u00e0 la r\u00e9gion de l\u2019Outaouais et \u00e0 ses producteurs agricoles. L\u2019installation est cr\u00e9\u00e9e que nous n\u2019oublions ni notre in\u00e9luctable d\u00e9pendance aux terres que nous habitons ni les fermiers qui luttent pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 nos besoins essentiels.<\/p>\n

The work is currently being displayed at Caf\u00e9 Radisson. The work will be up until early September, when it begins the travelling show throughout the Outaouais.<\/div>\n
