New works: InterconnectedWatershed, August 19th, 2016.
Join us for InterconnectedWatershed: two visual artists reflect upon their surrounding watershed, sourcing their work from the Gatineau River and Chelsea Creek in Western Quebec.
All welcome to the vernissage on Friday, August 19th, 6-8pm.
Show runs until Thursday, September 23rd, 2016.
Emily Rose Michaud will present her cyanotype-based drawings with elements from around the Gatineau River, incorporating flora and topographical maps. Using a photo process from the mid 1800s, Michaud captures a reverence for aquatic life in these unique artworks. Emily has attracted international media attention in the past for her Roerich Garden Project in Montreal. http://emilyrosemichaud.com/
Harry Nowell will present recent works of his 15 year project capturing 25km of Chelsea Creek watershed. His current works are original works coming straight from a home made large format camera. No negatives or digital files are created – just one original photograph – straight from the camera.
The exhibition is a part of Wakefest ARTS Festival 2016. http://wakefest.org/events
A drawing workshop inspired by the show will be held next door to Expéditions Radisson in the village on Saturday afternoon, and will be facilitated by Emily. Drop in, all ages, and free. https://www.facebook.com/events/170069560070655/
