Thinking with Water – new publication out with McGill-Queen’s University Press
After six years in the works, ‘Thinking with Water’ is published with McGill-Queen’s University Press!! My mermaid street performance ‘Taste the $ource (while supplies last)’ is featured on three full colour plates. This exquisite compilation of over 20 texts, projects and poems is about giving back to the waters and cultivating new ways of relating with water, ‘to resist practices of contamination and appropriation’. Thanks to the outstanding editors Cecilia Chan, Janine MacLeod and Astrida Neimanis. What a collection! If anyone would like a copy, let me know – contributors get a discount of 40%.
« As the many works collected here demonstrate, water teaches us about an ethics of care and response; about the need for all bodies to be sustained by good water, good nourishment, good words; about patience and resilience; about the way theory, activism, and art overlap and blur; about the need to listen to voices that are too often silenced or deemed mere babble. » – from the introduction by C.Chan, J.MacLeod, A.Neimanis.
